The challenge
How We Came To Life
Everyone feels that they are paying way too much for gas now compared to 5 years ago. It has not been a long time, but we have seen a huge increase in gas prices. Gracie and Anna, two best friends from high school, were on their way to their college graduation and just stopped at Dunkin drive thru to get themselves some coffee before they attend their big day. They started commenting on increasing gas prices compared to when they were graduating high school.
As they moved forward in line to grab their Dunkin order, Gracie, who was driving, laughed in excitement, “I will definitely buy an electric car after I start my new job” she said. With this thought, Anna and Gracie started a conversation on how we also have to pay for electric consumption to some extent, and that people who do not own houses have problems with charging their cars, and also that if they run out of charging in the middle of a highway that might be an issue, and much more. As they kept arguing, they finally reached their college.
Gracie and Anna quietly sat down and started to enjoy the whole ceremony as they waited patiently for their turn as well. It was a big football sized ground where the ceremony was happening. This meant that Gracie and Anna had to start walking towards the stage 10 minutes before their name was called. When they started walking, Anna started thinking of how it is interesting that a very small amount of caffeine helped them getting enough energy for the whole day. This triggered an idea Anna’s head of a car that can run by itself—at least for a whole day or two—with just minimum amount of energy.
After the two friends were done with the ceremony, celebrated their success with their family, when they met the next day, Anna shared her idea with Gracie. To Anna’s surprise, Gracie’s uncle worked at a car manufacturing plant, as the head, and so the two girls decided to talk to Gracie’s uncle and ask them if they would get a chance to present their idea to some of the engineers and make a special battery that has the capability to maintain its energy long enough with the minimum possible energy input.
After conversating with Gracie’s uncle, an informal meeting was setup for everyone to meet where Gracie and Anna presented their idea to the professionals. Their idea was then worked on to create a battery that was powered by friction and Gracie and Anna were given their share of the idea as well.
The solution
Who We Are, What We Do
With the idea been given, it was time to bring this dream to life. Oliver and George instantly became interested in working towards such a battery, and conversating with John for few days, they were able to convince him to join the group of the founders.
Now, with each person having expertise in certain areas, it is clear the strategy with which batteries will be introduced. All the operating departments are equipped with the ability to meet the demand, and the supply chain department is ready to deal and serve its customers with the aim to increase sales.
